Built to last, extremely reliable and optimised for high volume RFID operations, the R110Xi4 printer/encoder delivers superior performance and unique features:

Zebra’s patent-pending Adaptive Encoding Technology simplifies setup and adds media flexibility allowing the use of a large variety of RFID media from many sources, including that produced for competitors’ printers

Support for narrow distance (pitch) between RFID labels; as narrow as 16 mm on most inlays. By spacing inlays closer, the label conversion process is simpler, translating to lower cost per label, fewer media roll changes and faster printer/encoder throughput for end-users. This feature can be combined with a 600dpi printer for enhanced print quality on small labels

Direct-to-inlay printing and encoding, reducing the need for label face stock or the label conversion process thus reducing tag cost.

Designed with the next generation of RFID tags in mind, these new features meet the needs of emerging applications such as apparel source tagging, industrial asset tagging, and healthcare tagging, whilst continuing to address the case and pallet labelling markets.

Zebra Technologies introduce new Eco Friendly material to their range of Zebra Labels.Reducing our impact on the environment is important to us all. Many organisations have developed environmental sustainability plans that include purchasing more environmentally friendly products. In support of these initiatives, Zebra has added eco-friendly thermal transfer labels to its line of materials.

Zebra’s index.htm eco-friendly labels contain post-consumer waste (PCW) and have brown kraft liners. Products that contain PCW are manufactured using recycled materials—in this case, paper. By using post-consumer content, paper waste is diverted from landfills, protecting forests due to the reduction in the need for virgin fibers. By also using an unbleached kraft liner, no harsh chemicals are used and the production requires less energy.

Zebra’s Supplies R&D Team tested most commercially available thermal transfer materials, including more exotic materials like those manufactured from bamboo and corn. However, many of the products do not meet our print quality standards. Therefore, by choosing one of Zebra’s ecofriendly materials, you are assured to find a product that meets the high Zebra standards.

Our line of eco-friendly materials includes:

• 8000T PCW30—Thermal transfer, coated, white paper label that contains 30 percent PCW and features a permanent, acrylic-based, environmentally benign, recycling-compatible adhesive (EBA/RCA).

• 8000T PCW30 High Tack—Thermal transfer, semi-gloss, coated, white paper label that contains 30 percent PCW and features a high-tack rubber-based adhesive.

According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA):

• the United States consumes about 85 million tons of paper and paperboard a year.

• producing recycled paper products causes 74 percent less air pollution and 35 percent less water pollution than products produced from nonrecycled sources.

• recycling one ton of paper can save 7,000 gallons of water and 3.3 cubic yards of landfill space. Organizations utilizing 1,000 4×6″ shipping labels per day can reduce their annual impact on the environment as listed below* by switching to labels that contain 30 percent PCW.

• Total Energy: 32 million BTUs

• Greenhouse Gases: 4,829 lbs CO2 equiv.

• Wastewater: 14,813 gallons

• Solid Waste: 1,851 pounds

Hi All. It is now my turn to update you on the latest developments in the barcode label world. I am sure many people will relate to this story as this situation has become a regular occurrence in my life and I’m sure it will have happened to you at some stage

I am often asked by friends, colleagues and even family – ‘Rich…. What do you actually do for a living’???

The fact that we are a specialist barcode website for industry often means part of our job is to educate people with no experience of barcoding, so during these times I switch to ‘tell people about barcodes’ mode, so my answer is usually along the lines of …..Well Mr Jones/David/Mum, at The Barcode Business – We are THE Specialist barcode label suppliers – We supply Zebra printers, Intermec Printers, barcode labels, Zebra labels and even ODETTE labels, we also print barcode labels in all Barcode formats, Code 39, EAN 13, Interleaf 2of 5, we also supply Barcode Software and barcode scanners etc

My answer is usually met with giggles and a response along the lines of ‘you supply what? …

ZEBRA’S? or Software for Zebra’s
What are Zebra printers?…Why do Zebra’s need Software? – THEY ARE ANIMALS!!
So more often than not I send them a link so they can check out our website they soon realise that a barcode printer and barcode labels are specialist print area’s and I know they are often impressed when they see our client list includes the likes of www.bbc.co.uk, www.dhl.com and www.gsk.co.uk

If however they don’t seem to understand, which if you knew my friends is more often than not then I just say ‘I sell sticky barcode labels’ and leave it at that!

More barcode News next time
